Sending a break to a connected serial device

To send a break to a connected serial device, concurrently press the control and backslash keys (Ctrl \).

This command is built into our console products to generate a break signal during a network session that is connected to a serial port.

If you are using an Apple product you can try the following break sequence: Enter ~B

Additionally the following modes are supported in our units:

To get to the ACCEPT BREAK Menu you will need to issue a "/n" and select the option for ACCEPT BREAK.

ACCEPT BREAK: [Shared]

1. Off

2. On (ASCII 28)

3. On (Dual mode)

4. On (IETF/RFC4335 compliant)

Help:

  • 'Off' all break codes are ignored and passed through untouched to the serial port,
  • 'On (ASCII 28)' If an ASCII 28 (Control '\') is detected, it is stripped and a 'break' sequence is initiated on the connected serial port.
  • 'On (Dual Mode)' If an ASCII 28 or IETF/RFC4335 SSH break sequence is detected, these codes are stripped and a 'break' sequence is initiated on the connected serial port.
  • 'On (IETF/RFC4335 compliant)' If an IETF/RFC4335 SSH break sequence is detected, this code is stripped and a 'break' sequence is initiated on the connected serial port.
  • When this mode changes, you need to logout/login to take affect.
