WTI Product End-of-Life (EOL) Guidelines

WTI Product End-of-Life (EOL) Guidelines

WTI products reach the end of their production life cycle for a number of reasons. These reasons usually include internal component availability, market demand or the release of new WTI products which replace older models & offer more robust functionality. WTI understands that end-of-life events impact our customers who deploy WTI devices as an essential part of their network operation. With that in mind, we have set out to summarize the WTI End-of-Life (EOL) policy in an effort to help WTI customers better manage their WTI product transition and to evaluate the role that next-gen WTI replacement models can play in migrating to alternate WTI products that provide enhanced functionality over legacy models.

  1. As a general rule, WTI will provide a 6-month notice of the specific models and the End-of-Sale date. End-of-Sale date is the last day the affected product can be ordered. This End-of-Sale notice will appear on the WTI web site and we encourage you to visit this site regularly, as it contains useful information regarding affected WTI units and how to receive notification of End-of-Life announcements.
  2. Access to WTI’s free technical support department will be available for a period of 5 years from the End-of-Life date for WTI hardware and firmware.
  3. Spares or replacement parts for EOL hardware will be available for a period of 5 years from the End-of-Life date. Spares and replacement parts are available in accordance with our 5x5 Warranty and Return Authorization process.
  4. For those customers who have purchased an Advance Replacement Warranty (or hot-swap warranty), WTI maintains a buffer stock of WTI units in reserve for immediate shipment should you require an advance replacement unit. After the term of your Advance Replacement Warranty has expired, no renewal can be purchased for products placed under End-of-Life status.
  5. Firmware maintenance support will be as follows:
    1. For the first year following the End-of-Life date, we will provide bug fixes, maintenance releases, work-arounds or patches for critical bugs reported to the WTI technical support department.
    2. After the first year WTI cannot guarantee firmware bug fixes or maintenance releases. We will attempt to help customers with firmware support through proven work-around recommendations for a period of 4 years. Keep in mind that it may be necessary to use software upgrade releases to implement a specific recommended work-around.
