The PollCat III is a highly reliable, solid state PBX data recorder designed for remote or on-site SMDR/CDR data and/or alarm collection. In addition to storing call records, the PollCat III can monitor call records for suspicious phone activity or critical alarm conditions. When an alarm is detected, PollCat III will alert the proper personnel in real-time, via pager, modem, or printer. If your application involves modem contact with a number of PollCat III units at different sites, the Header Message can be used to verify the identity and location of each unit. Information such as the company name, installation site, PBX type, and etc. can be recorded in the Header Message and then displayed when you contact the unit.

High Speed Polling
The PollCat III features a 33.6K V.32 bis internal modem, which provides fast data upload and saves time and connect charges. When polled from a local console via the Computer Port, the PollCat III will support transfer
rates up to 38.4 baud.
Nonvolatile Memory
The PollCat III is available with 256K to 8 Megabytes of nonvolatile memory. Convenient, plug-in SIMM cards allow easy upgrade when memory requirements grow. If power is switched off, the PollCat's reliable, battery backed CMOS RAM memory can retains parameters and call record data for up to 90 days.
Toll Fraud Detection
PollCat III provides a simple, but effective means for detecting Toll Fraud and other forms of phone abuse. The unit monitors all data received from the PBX, constantly watching for call characteristics that could indicate unauthorized entry or abuse of the PBX. When questionable phone activity is detected, the PollCat III can provide real-time notification by pager, modem, or printer. This allows you to take preventative measures to effectively lock out hackers before they can do serious damage.
In addition to Toll Fraud detection, the PollCat can also watch for other types of critical PBX events. If the flow of data from the PBX is interrupted, the No-Data Alarm can provide prompt notification. The PollCat can also alert you to PBX error or alarm messages, allowing rapid response to down lines and other hardware problems.
Alarm Notification
When an alarm is generated, PollCat III offers several options for user notification. Alarms can be reported via pager, audible alarm, printed report, or the computer port. Up to three pager ID numbers can be defined, allowing alarms to be routed to the appropriate security or technical personnel. When alphanumeric pagers are used, the alarm message can include the site I.D. as well as a description of the event that caused the alarm. The PollCat III can also send a printed report via modem to a printer in your security center.
Dual Input/Output Ports
Data from two different sources can be simultaneously recorded, filtered and monitored. Inputs function independently, with separate communication parameters (e.g. baud rate, parity) for each port. A convenient Pass-Through Mode allows direct communication with the PBX, even while the other port is still receiving data.
