The DataBooster II (DB-2) is a compact, low cost RS-232C compatible signal booster that extends normally limited transmission distances between devices conveniently and economically. The DB-2 provides both signal regeneration and line conditioning. When signals are received, the DB-2 filters out any noise, corrects the electrical characteristics, strengthens the signal and re-transmits it to the receiving device. Only one DB-2 is required to at least double the transmission distance. Actual distances will vary depending upon the data rate and capacitance of the cable.
Supports Sync or Async Communications
The DB-2 will support communication between synchronous or asynchronous devices. DB-2 units contain a data LED activity indicator which will monitor data activity on the receive and transmit lines (pins 2 and 3) to aid in trouble shooting during installation. The ability to boost both data and handshaking signals allows the DB-2 to be implemented in a variety of data transmission applications.
