The RMM-288AC is designed for applications that require a single "industrial strength" modem that easily installs in equipment bays. The RMM requires only one rack space and has its own power supply. The RMM-288AC eliminates the need for equipment trays and power bricks required by "plastic box" modems.
With an internal, surge protected power supply, the RMM is capable of supporting 115/230v power. The heart of the RMM-288 is the popular and highly reliable US Robotics® Sportster® 33.6 modem card. The power
supply is filtered, fused and surge protected for operation in harsh environments. The RMM-288AC has a complete set of LED status indicators for diagnostics and setup as well as a green light indicating power on.
Common Applications

Communication with Rack Mounted Equipment: The RMM-288AC is ideal for applications that require communication with remote, rack mounted equipment. The RMM easily installs in 19 inch equipment racks, to
provide quick, reliable modem communication with routers, servers, and other remote devices.

Port Switching / Out-of-Band Management: The RMM can also provide out-of-band access to configuration and management functions on remote network devices such as routers, servers, and DSU/CSU's. When the RMM is used in combination with WTI's APS-16 Asynchronous Port Switch, network administrators can access command functions, select ports, and perform other tasks that might normally require a trip to the installation
site. Most network devices include a console port to allow out-of-band access to command functions. However, in order to access the console port from a remote location, a modem must be present. The APS-16 allows the RMM
to provide access to several different devices, rather than dedicating a separate modem for each device.

Power Management: When a remote device "locks-up", it's usually at the most inconvenient time and place possible. In the past, system operators often had to make a frustrating trip to a remote installation site, simply to flick a switch off and on, in order to initiate a reboot. The RMM can help eliminate these late night drives to equipment closets; when the RMM is connected to WTI's NPS-115 Remote Reboot
Switch, power to remote devices can be switched on, off, or toggled by simple ASCII commands sent via modem. WTI Power Control Products are available in 115/230 VAC and 24/-48 VDC versions to provide remote reboot capability for almost any type of network device.
